Plovdiv Past Papers and How to Use Them
Free: get all our free guides by email, including a printable topic checklist.
In short. Plovdiv gives you free sample tests and past exam questions. They are official, so start there.
- Plovdiv says its real biology test is "similar but not identical" to its samples.
- So learn each topic first. Then use the papers to test yourself.
- These are the 2026/27 rules. The 2027/28 guide is not published yet.
Where to find Plovdiv's free papers
The Medical University of Plovdiv puts these files on its admission page. They are free PDFs in English. We link to them. We never copy them.

The six biology tasks
Plovdiv's biology test has six kinds of task. Only the first one is multiple choice. Plovdiv's Admission Guide shows an example paper worth 60 points.
The chart shows what each task asks, and its points. Tasks 2 to 6 gave 10 + 6 + 6 + 8 + 10 = 40 of the 60 points in the example.
The chemistry test is simpler. It has 30 multiple-choice questions. Each has four options, and one is right. Each is worth 1 point.
What the 51 and 18 topics cover
The biology list has 51 topics. Topics 1 to 33 are about the human body, one system at a time. That is about two-thirds of the list. Topics 34 to 51 cover cells and molecules: think DNA, enzymes, viruses and cell division.
The level is school level. Plovdiv's list names one book: a Bulgarian 9th-grade biology book, in two parts. It names no English book. So use an English school biology book that covers the human body.
One free English option is OpenStax's Anatomy and Physiology 2e. Our topic checklist matches its chapters to topics 1 to 33.
Chemistry has 18 topics. Topics 1 to 7 are general chemistry. Topics 8 to 10 are inorganic chemistry. Topics 11 to 18 are organic chemistry.
If your school course had little human anatomy, start there. It is the biggest block on the list.
Use the samples without memorising them
Plovdiv's real biology test is similar to its samples, but not the same. So knowing the sample answers by heart is not enough. Use each paper like this:
- Learn one topic first. Pick it from the topic checklist. Read it in your school book.
- Answer the past questions on that topic. Work without notes. Write down your answer before you look.
- Explain every wrong option. Say why each wrong answer is wrong, not only why the right one is right.
- Mark the topic done on the checklist. Mark it only when you can explain it without notes.
- Keep the full sample tests for later. Then give yourself 45 minutes per subject, with no paper and no calculator.
- Go back to your weakest topics. Then take another full test.
Keep a list of the topics where you lose points. Fix those first.
Tasks 2 to 6 need practice too. Here is a drill for each:
- True statements: for each topic, write five true and five false sentences. Swap them with a friend.
- Matching: make cards with a term on one side and its meaning on the other.
- Diagrams: draw the heart, a cell or a neuron from memory. Then label every part.
- Tables: compare two things side by side, such as mitosis and meiosis.
- Wrong words: take a paragraph from your textbook. Change a few words, wait a day, then find them.
Exam day, the score and the dates, in brief
In 2026 you took biology for 45 minutes, then chemistry for 45 minutes, online. You may not use paper, a pen, a calculator or a periodic table. So practise that way: work without paper, and do chemistry sums in your head.
Biology and chemistry count three times, English once, for a top score of 42. A mark below 3.00 in any test means you cannot be ranked. Our score guide works through examples.
In 2026 there were 5 exam dates, from 15 April to 18 August, at €300 each. A re-sit date followed on 4 September, at €400.
Every rule, date and deadline is in our free Plovdiv guide.
What our practice adds
Our practice gives you:
- our own questions on all 51 biology and 18 chemistry topics
- an explanation for every answer: why it is right, and why the others are wrong
- multiple-choice chemistry, the question type of Plovdiv's chemistry test
- a list of the topics where you still lose points
It covers every topic that tasks 2 to 6 test. It is multiple choice, so it does not simulate those tasks, and it does not copy Plovdiv's papers. It does not cover English. See the plans, and when practice access opens.
